I’ve tried this recently in a Russian restaurant in New York City. It was an instant hit! I couldn’t find it anywhere in Bay Area, so my husband found the recipe and made it at home. A huge success! Drink responsibly, as I find that horseradish taste makes the vodka feel a lot less alcoholic.
You will need:
1 bottle (750 ml) vodka
1 horseradish root (not all supermarkets carry it, but Whole Foods does and also probably your neighborhood vegetable store)
2 black peppercorns
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp honey
Directions:
Peel horseradish and cut into strips. Put into a large carafe. Add peppercorns, lemon juice and honey, and pour vodka over. Close the carafe and keep in a dark place from 3 to 7 days. Enjoy chilled with pickled cucumbers, tomatoes or cabbage, or add to a bloody mary! Drink responsibly.
